Ways to Keep Your Dog Healthy

Ways to Keep Your Dog Healthy

Do you have a canine friend that you care about a great deal? If this is the case, you need to take the precautions to make sure that your dog is always in the best of health. There are a variety of ways that you can do this. Always remember that neglecting even a single element of your dog’s health regimen could have negative consequences on your pet. You would be wise to educate yourself as much as possible regarding what a dog needs to stay healthy. This is especially important if you just became a dog owner for the first time. Here are several methods to ensure that your dog has a long and happy life.

1. Make sure that your dog gets an adequate amount of exercise.

A dog needs exercise just as much as a person does. Therefore, you need to take the time out of your schedule to take your dog for a walk on a daily basis. This might be hard for you to do if you have a full-time job and other commitments that take up your time. However, you made a commitment when you became a pet owner. It is your responsibility to ensure that your dog is happy and healthy. A dog that is not getting enough exercise on a daily basis will eventually start to develop more serious health problems. You might want to think about hiring a professional dog walker to take your dog for a walk if you do not have the time to do so. Giving your dog enough exercise is especially important if you live in an apartment with no yard for your dog to run around in.

2. Take your dog to a veterinarian on a regular basis.

You probably go to a doctor for a physical examination at least once every year. This is a smart decision on your part. Being proactive where your health is concerned allows you to discover any health problems before they become very serious. You should apply the same logic to the health of your dog. Find a very reputable veterinarian in your area who has many years of experience. Schedule regular appointments to have your dog evaluated by the veterinarian. This person can give you advice about certain things you need to be doing to help your dog stay healthy. The veterinarian might also prescribe medication for your dog to take. You can also shop with Vet Products Direct for dog worming products.

3. Only feed your dog the healthiest foods.

Giving your dog a lot of exercise is great. However, that will not mean very much if you are allowing your pet to eat foods that do not have any health benefits. This is why you need to take as much interest in the health of your dog as you do with your own. Ask your veterinarian to recommend some foods to you that will help to keep your dog healthy. There are certain foods that will make your dog’s immune system stronger. Carefully read the labels of all the foods you are feeding to you dog. This will give you a clear understanding of what is going into your dog’s body. You can then buy foods that will give your canine friend a balanced diet.

4. Brush your dog’s teeth twice every day.

The same problems that can develop in your own mouth when you do not brush your teeth regularly can happen in your dog’s mouth. This is why you need to pay very close attention to the oral hygiene of your dog. Take the time to brush your dog’s teeth twice every day. Doctors have linked many organ problems to poor oral hygiene. This means that your dog could face serious health problems if you neglect its oral hygiene. Get instructions from your veterinarian about the products you should buy and the proper brushing technique you should use.

Start

Where do I start? I was once told that if I couldn’t think of anything to write, to write about not being able to write. So, I’ll go with that thought and write about not being able to start.

I am lacking motivation, oomph, whatever you want to call it these days. I am feeling very overwhelmed. More and more I’m expected to do or deal with less and less to do the doing or dealing with. So, I’m left looking at this or that, wondering where to start and, in some cases, not being able to make myself start.

No matter what I do, there is more to do. Before I’m done with project number one, projects two through ten are before me. So, I don’t start. When there is an overwhelming amount of things to do, nothing gets done. I can’t make myself start on any of them.

What about you? How do you make yourself start when you are overwhelmed?

Book Review: Carissa’s Law by Misty Boyd

Carissa’s Law by Misty Boyd

Carissa’s Law by Misty Boyd is a touching book about the life of a girl born with spina bifida.

The story starts with her first day of college and all the adventure that moment brings into one’s life. In this case, from the viewpoint of one living life in a wheelchair.

This book struck a chord with me as I had a family member who was born with spina bifida, as was the author of Carissa’s Law.

As you make your way through this novel, there are moments of laughter and moments of tears. There are also moments that made me so mad about how the expectant parents and their babies were treated that I could have screamed!

Carissa’s Law is about understanding that all life is precious and worthy. In a wheelchair or out of it, people are people with hopes and dreams that they should be allowed to achieve.

It is about the dedication of one girl to make things better for those with spina bifida and for disabled people.

It is a fight for truth.

Carissa seeks to require the medical community to update their knowledge in regards to spina bifida, as well as telling parents the truth about the prognosis.

I really enjoyed this book and hope that you will, too.

Crochet Animal Rugs by Ira Rott

Crochet Animal Rugs by Ira Rott is loaded with adorable animal projects to crochet. There are elephants, kitties, pandas, monkeys, and all sorts of cute critters included in this book.

There are patterns for rugs, pillows, stool covers, and other accessories.

Though this book appears to have been published in the U.K., it uses American crochet terms. The instructions are easy to follow.

Crochet Animal Rugs would be a great book for crocheters that are animal lovers and have little ones in their lives to gift with these creations.

I can’t wait to get started on the elephants. What about you?

Audience

I do not like having an audience, at least, not an in-person audience. I am find with interacting with folks online. I just am totally terrified at the thought of public speaking.  One-on-one, I’m okay (most of the time). Two-on-one, okay. Any more than that and the stress levels start to climb.

The thought of being on stage, performing in any way for an audience, makes my tongue swell, my legs shake and go weak, sometimes buckling under me. I have trouble talking, can’t remember what I need to say, and other embarrassing things.

I am not meant to have an audience, not in the typical sense of the word. I am meant for behind-the-scenes things, the support person for the one on stage, playing to the audience. Or, to be part of the audience myself.  However, even being in the audience makes me uncomfortable in real life events.

Do you like having an audience? Are you all out there, in performer mode, wanting all eyes on you?  Do you think folks that don’t like that level of attention of somehow weird?

Please answer in the comments. I’d love to read your response.

Have a blessed day!

Who

When I first read this prompt, one of the first things to pop into my head was, “Who do you say that I am?” Jesus said it to Simon Peter in Matthew 16.

I say that He is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, my Lord and Savior. He is my Redeemer. He died so that I might live. He is my Protector and Comforter.

He is the “Who” that I want to please, want to live for, want to share with the world.

When this life is over, He is the “Who” that will come for me. I look forward to that day.

Book Review: The Employee Millionaire – Personal Workbook: How to Use Your Day Job to Become a Millionaire with Rental Properties by H J Chammas

The Employee Millionaire – Personal Workbook: How to Use Your Day Job to Become a Millionaire with Rental Properties by H J Chammas

There are so many books out there on “The Only One Way to Invest” that it will make your head spin. Almost all of the books we read on investing start out by telling you what is wrong with all other forms of investing and why theirs is the one and only way to invest your money to earn an income.

The Employee Millionaire – Personal Workbook: How to Use Your Day Job to Become a Millionaire with Rental Properties by H J Chammas is different. He does give a little comparison and contrast between investing in rental property and investing in stocks and bonds. In this case, he actually gives the pros and cons for both.

Nowhere in the book does Mr. Chammas tell his readers it is going to be easy. He does not tell you that checks will pour in while you sip on umbrella drinks.

This book tells you how to get started on a fairly moderate income and then roll it into owning and renting out multiple properties.

He takes his readers through the whole enchilada. He tells readers about the process of getting pre-approval for a loan and then finding properties and making an offer.

He even tells his readers what they need to take to the closing on a sale of property. He attempts to make this “white-knuckle” event much less stressful.

Readers are given links to online forms that help with the whole process from start to finish. He even takes his readers through getting their budget in line before they start.

We truly believe The Employee Millionaire is a must read for anyone attempting to find a way to add to their income in the least stressful way. This book will make a great gift for that would-be investor on your gift giving list. We give it all five stars.

Shrimp and cheesecake make me feel like royalty.

On a dark stormy night, I want to get a picture of a lightning strike.

If I had a witch’s cauldron, I would stir up a potion for….I wouldn’t stir up a potion. I would plant flowers in it.

Press Release: Citizens Disability Takes a Personalized and Specialized Team Approach to the Social Security Disability Claims Process

Citizens Disability Takes a Personalized and Specialized Team Approach to the Social Security Disability Claims Process

Consumer Advocacy Group Helping Disabled Workers Fight for

and Receive the SSDI Benefits They Deserve

CitizenDisability Image.jpg

Waltham, Mass. – October 2018 – With almost two-thirds of Social Security Disability applicants being denied benefits, many who have been paying into the system for years and are truly deserving of such benefits give up the fight. Citizens Disability is picking up the battle axe on their behalf. An advocacy group for people who are struggling to obtain SSDI benefits, Citizens Disability is changing the benefits landscape by helping individuals navigate the large, impersonal and denial-heavy government system.

A recent Government Accountability Office (GAO) study showed that “claimants who had representatives, such as an attorney…were allowed benefits at a rate nearly 3 times higher than those without representatives.”  Additionally, according to the Annual Statistical Report on the Social Security Disability Insurance Program, 2016, “The final award rate for disabled-worker applicants has varied over time, averaging 34 percent for claims filed from 2006 through 2015. When only first-time applications are considered, the award rates become even worse. “The percentage of applicants awarded benefits at the initial claims level averaged only 23 percent.” Once denied, many individuals who take on the daunting application process drop out of the fray, and with good reason.

Operating under the slogan of “All we do is fight for you,” Citizens Disability increases these dismal approval odds considerably. By dedicating a Citizens Disability advocate to each individual aspect of the claim procedure, the advocacy group simplifies the complicated application process. This personalized approach to filing a claim ensures a highly trained individual is dedicated to each aspect of the application.

“Unlike the traditional approach in which a caseworker is assigned dozens, even hundreds, of applicants and then handles all phases of the process, we take a phase-by-phase approach,” explains Andrew Youngman, Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Disability. “In doing so, our clientele receive access to an initial filing specialist. They are then passed down the chain to another professional and then another who guides them through every aspect of the claim.”

What does this differentiated approach mean for Citizens Disability’s clients? Most importantly, it results in increased odds of disabled workers winning the Social Security benefits they have earned. In turn, deserving applicants can address their health concerns without the added fear of how they are going to survive and thus get on with their lives.
