Peanut butter and jelly go hand in hand, though I have yet to see jelly with hands.

Being loved by our kitties makes my heart happy.

Don’t be afraid to follow your dreams. They may not lead you to the expected destination, but instead may take you to something much better and more fulfilling in the end.

If going to the bathroom was a sport, I would win hands down, if for no other reason than that I’m in there the most! No one else gets a chance to score. 🙂

Looking back, there are so many people that I miss and long to see again. So many events I wish I could revisit or change. So many questions and answers hidden to me. It is something that I have to do in order to move forward.

A peanut butter and jelly sandwich is a treat I give to myself.

A new skill I want to learn is deciphering the mysteries of genetic genealogy.  I want to know what all of those letters and numbers in my raw DNA file mean! If I were capable of it, and wanted to go back to college, I would pursue studies in genetics…and pottery. We can’t forget the pottery!

One bad habit that I want to stop is remembering the bad but forgetting the good.  I know, at least to a degree, why this has happened my whole life, but I would like to be able to remember more of the good things that happened along the way. I know there were many good things along the way.

On New Year’s Eve, I look forward to watching the ball drop on Times Square. I just hope we’ll be able to find someone broadcasting it online. It looks like it will be just me and David, together with the furbabies, ringing in this new year. At least it looks like we’ll be doing this at home instead of a blasted hospital or nursing home!

A goal I have for 2019 is…Well, I have several! They are: To grow From the Kitchen of McClendon Villa, to increase my creative writing output, discover the identity of my earthly father, and most importantly, grow a deeper relationship with Heavenly Father.

I haven’t spent too much time pondering my “one word” for 2019. Just as I was thinking about it now, the word “Trust” came to mind.  That was also the word for 2016. I guess I still have a lot of work to do on that one.

New beginnings can be both exciting and scary. May 2019 be a year of exciting new beginnings for all of us!

Every Christmas I remember the reason for the season, but I also wish there really was a Santa Claus.

The day after Christmas, I rush out to check the mail because I am a mail addict and no mail days just get me all out of whack!

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and I was wondering where my daddy was in the early 1970s (he was a trucker snowbound in Oklahoma)…much like I am this Christmas.

All I want for Christmas is to know who I really am. OK, maybe that isn’t really the ONLY thing, but it is what is really preying on my mind right now.

I really need to get myself pulled together mentally and figure out how to deal with some recent, upsetting news. I know that I will overcome this. The fighter spirit is in me. It’s just licking its wounds right now.

My favorite Christmas decoration – angels!

It’s beginning to look a lot like a messy fall/winter around here. It keeps raining off and on for days. Our yard is currently a swamp. And the neighbors yard looks like Lake Texana forgot where it’s supposed to be!

This time of year, I eat my fair share – probably more than my fair share – of turkey and dressing. Granny’s dressing recipe worked out great at Thanksgiving and I am looking forward to having it again.

I refuse to shop in the nude.  Well, that’s the first thing that came to mind!

The thought of being trapped anywhere, overnight or otherwise, initiates my claustrophobic freakout. But, if I had to be stuck in a store overnight (and had access to food, beverages, and bathroom), then I choose Hobby Lobby…or, maybe, Barnes and Noble. At least Barnes and Noble has comfy sitting areas.

I’m dreaming of our own place, way out in the country.

I wouldn’t touch beef liver with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole. The same goes for prunes. Ewwww!

Black Friday is a madness that I would rather avoid and fully plan to avoid!

A pet peeve of mine this time of year is greed and all the “gimmees”. This world has lost track of the reason for the season in all the rush to get more stuff.

‘Tis the season for remembering the Gift that Heavenly Father gave us when He sent His Son into this sin-filled world to offer us eternal life, paying for it with His own life.

I never jumped on the “latest fashion craze” bandwagon. I wear what I want to wear, what feels most comfortable to me. I don’t care whether it is in style or not. If I like it, I wear it. If I don’t, I don’t.

When it comes to pie, my favorite is probably pecan pie, but I’d rather have cheesecake than pie.

A feast is not a feast without family and lots of love (and cheesecake!) at the table.

I just shared a document with David. We are very thankful to Ellen and LoriAnne for sharing the Fill-Ins on Wednesday nights.  It makes it much easier for us to participate in the fill-ins each week when we can get the post scheduled ahead of time.

My (really, our) next supper meal will be salmon patties.

The sound of brakes squealing makes me cringe.

Right now, I am craving the same thing I always crave. I bet you can’t guess what that is!

Here are my responses:

One can do what one’s sets her mind to do, so they say. I think, for the most part this is true. Determination means a lot.  But, sometimes things are just not meant to be, regardless of one’s level of determination. We just have to keep tweaking it until we find the path we’re meant to be on.

Given the choice of poverty or a loveless marriage, I would choose poverty.  I’d rather be poor and with David than rich and without him.

Cigarette smoke makes me feel like I am being strangled.

I never go a day without going to the bathroom. Sorry, that was the first thing to hit my mind. Haha
